Any employee or nominated driver to be checked will need to complete a Data Protection Mandate (JO21) that grants permission for
Driver Check & Train Ltd (DCT) to approach the DVLA to obtain licence information on your behalf.
The information required on the mandate is minimal; driver name, address, date of birth and driving licence number. DCT will assist in the
process of distribution and capture of Data Protection Mandates. There is provision for driver depot and/or different cost centres
DCT will collate all employee information in which is then electronically verified.
DCT sorts the licence data received and delivers management reports within a secure web page accessed by individual company username
and password.
Each Data Protection Mandate (DPM/JO21) is valid for a period of 3 years, during which time a minimum of six checks will be undertaken
with no further reference to the driver or the company. If an employee leaves the organisation within 3 years the DPM will be cancelled.
Please note, you have to tell us before any further checks are done!
DCT will also manage new starters to the organisation on an individual basis
To determine whether your business needs a driving licence verification service, consider the following questions:
1. Do you provide company vehicles to your employees?
2. Do you allow employees to use their own vehicles on business trips?
3. Do you use a pool vehicle facility?
If the answer to any of the above is ‘Yes’, then recent changes to the law will affect you or your company.
